It's been ages since I've read this one, back in college. But I adored it - so smart and funny and satirical without screaming too loudly, "message!!" I highly recommend this to anyone who like humor and enjoys feisty female heroes. ...more

I re-read this book for book group. It is incredible to me how much of the graphic meat processing I had forgotten! I apparently just remembered the feeling of triumph from the end, not the abuse or terrible things that happen prior to that point. I still love the book, but I will reconsider recommending it so widely.
