Although parts seemed almost written for a movie (I could picture some of the dramatic scene changes in my head), this is a captivating and heartbreaking story about so many things -- how one action can impact more people than one would expect, years down the line, family (motherhood, fatherhood, sibling relationships), memory, the immigrant experience, lost dreams, the history of Afghanistan, identity, escaping/staying at home...

I was very excited when both the book clubs that I am in selected And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini to read for the same month. Every since I knew the book was coming, I put myself on the wait list at the library. Many people had the same idea as me and I realized that I was not going to get the book in time for the first meeting and decided to purchase my own copy. Another beautiful, mesmerizing and heartbreaking story by one of my most favorite authors, Khaled Hosseini. This time it's not as emotionally intense as the first two books, but still, it is very haunting, like you don't want the book to ever end.
