Very absorbing history of four women who worked as spies during the Civil War. I'd heard of Rose Greenhow and Elizabeth van Lew but not Belle Boyd or Emma Edmonds (?sp). Fascinating.

Book club (my suggestion). I think if I had this on paper instead of as an audiobook, I would have been sorely tempted to skim large sections of the latter half of the book. It’s really the motivations of the women and how they set themselves up that captured my interest.
This book is flawed, as far as the work of history-writing goes— too often the sassier women are taken at their word of having said the perfect thing at the perfect time, but the actual history is fascinating and worth ...more
