As a coming-of-age memoir aimed at 9 to 14 year old girls, this is fantastic, and I highly recommend it. This has a strong and positive message without being pedantic.

And I LOVED the fact that "smile" was both the first word and the last word of the book (as well as the obvious theme throughout). Well done!

But as a 49 year old mom, this didn't resonate as strongly with me as the other Telgemeier graphic novel I read, Sisters. I'm not sure if Sisters is just more "all ages" or maybe I was just e
