Wow. This is so wonderful! I'm not normally a fan of stories in verse, but this was absolutely the perfect way for Woodson to tell her story. It's moving and beautiful and all about my absolute favorite theme: the importance of telling your own story. I need to buy my own copy so I can reread it (a lovely student lent me hers, which is an ARC, when I mentioned wanting to read it).

Woodson reads her own work for the audiobook and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND approaching this book through her audio performance.
