One of this past month’s book club picks. From the minute you read the first page of this novel, you know you are in good hands. Ishiguro makes the voice of the protagonist, Stevens the butler, so clearly defined, and you can immediately imagine him as a character – as a real, live person, actually. You can see him and his every mannerisms fully formed, as you can the other characters in the novel. I don’t often put much weight in the pulled quotes on the front and back of a book, but on my book

This isn't a bad book, it just isn't for me. I found the narrative far too rambling for my taste. Plus the story never grabbed my attention.
