Oh, this was so painfully realistic. The in-betweenness of the age of Rose and Windy, wanting boobs, almost studying the "townies" of their beach getaway town Awago, like trying to peer behind the curtain of grown-upness. This graphic novel won't change your world, and it might not even be the best graphic novel you read all year (unless you only read this and like the graphic novelization of Twilight), but it is worth it for decent bildungsroman with a female main character. The characters were interesting, including Rose's parents, and the lake teenager townies. The illustrations were interesting. But I didn't like the plot and was not able to like the characters. And seriously, one major controversial issue wasn't enough? They had to throw in multiple ones. And the profanity turned me off, so call me a prude.
