Good Gracious! I admit that after reading the last Flavia mystery, The Dead in Their Vaulted Arches, I feared the Flavia de Luce mysteries had run their course. I suspected the series was at an end with so many of the previous story lines concluded.

Another enchanting-enough installment of the Flavia de Luce series. The story at first seemed to suffer from the lack of familiar characters, but the author did a good job of creating an interesting cast at Miss Bodycote's Female Academy. A warning: if you're listening to this on audio, be prepared for ear-grating Canadian/American accents. Appropriate for all ages.

This was the next book in the series. I liked that Flavia was away from Buckshaw, because honestly, how many murders can occur in that area without someone saying, "we've got to move!" My issue is that the book felt a little long, and yet rushed. I don't understand that whole concept of The Nide. But I'm curious about what will happen next. Could Flavia have a new stepmother soon?
