I love this series. The writing is impeccable and mysteries well done. I do think this one dragged a bit in the middle, but otherwise really enjoyed it.

Book 2 in the Cormoran Strike mystery series written by J.K. Rowling. Strike and his assistant, Robin, enter the convoluted literary world when an infamous author disappears.

I love Galbraith/Rowling's two characters (Robin and Strike) but I just got so TIRED of the constant swearing and bizarre sexual themes. I can appreciate that she's a craftsman and all, but...I'm getting too old for some of that rot!

I will continue keeping an eye on this series and will probably skim-read them, but won't be

Although I quite enjoyed The Cuckoo's Calling, the first Cormoran Strike novel, I feel like Rowling has really settled into this new genre with The Silkworm. She has better developed the recurring characters (Strike and Robin particularly, but also the peripherals of their families and friends), and the plot intricacies are well-planned and delivered. I suspect that the "theme" of these novels will always be Strike being "plunged into a world outside of his norm," but it fits the unpredictable w ...more

I loved the experience of this book, I loved spending time with Cormoran Strike and listening to Robert Glenister ... but I'm not so sure how I felt about the mystery. There were plenty of clues, and I did have an inkling of what it was, but Strike never acted like he was thinking what I was thinking. It was misleading, and some key clues were not shared with the reader until the end; so this isn't the kind of mystery that you can try to solve before the detective.

The author is Galbraith, but w

Better than the first in the series, but still not amazing... I liked the insider view of the publishing world and Rowling is really one of the best character namers around.

This is more of a 3.5, but I liked it enough to give it the extra half point for the star. I still enjoy Strike and Robin very much, and I was quite caught up in this rather gruesome murder mystery. It was also somewhat amusing to hear all that gossip and petty bitterness in the publishing world and wondering, on a meta level, how many of the personalities in this book might be recognizable to someone in London's real publishing world.

Galbraith (or, you know, Rowling) can write grown up charact

I had heard it was better than the first, but I think I preferred the first. Strike and Robin remain a bit flat for me as characters.

So much fun, in part because it seems like Galbraith/Rowling had fun writing it.
