This entire phenomenon has been on my mind a lot lately - and not just because I'm active on social media, and therefore vulnerable to the situations Ronson outlines.

Don't get on the Internet. Don't use social media. Especially not Twitter. Don't tell any jokes. Don't write a book review. In fact, don't speak at all. Because you have a good chance of being publicly shamed online if you do -- an experience worse than Puritan public corporal punishment. That's how this book made me feel. A fascinating but scary read.
