A great premise that suffered somewhat from a bit of over-writing and an unsatisfying end. I want to go to the circus, certainly, but the relationships between the people weren't developed or explained enough for me. I could picture the place and not the characters, which maybe was partially the point, but it didn't do it for me. Don't get me wrong, still a solid 3-3.5 star read, but not making its way into my Top 10.

3 1/2 star really, if we could do halves. For some reason this book took my a long time to finish. I enjoyed the concept and descriptions of the circus itself, it's just the overall plot and characters that didn't pull me through the book that strongly.

I don't think i would have finished this book, aside from the fact that I listened to Jim Dale read the audio version.
Everything seemed very pointless and confusing. Time hopping and third to second person narration hopping. Not knowing why anything was the way it was and no one questioning it. ...more
