This was so magical. I loved how it shifted from one time to another and from place to place and perspective to perspective. It added a touch of confusion that felt purposeful. I was really enjoying this as an audiobook, until Scribd started skipping chapters (boo hiss!). It's was fantastic though!

I'm glad I didn't see the negative reviews of this until I was already reading it. I'm a sucker for atmosphere, and this story is chock full of it. Some complained of poor character development, and a predictable story. I felt like the circus was the main character, and it didn't disappoint! It felt like a lot of setup. I kept waiting for it to get started. I wanted to like it because it was so different and quirky, but I couldn't get close enough to the characters to really fall in love.

Wonderful story-telling, and visually amazing. The actual plot was a bit slow to develop and a bit disappointing once it started going, but I felt immersed in Morgenstern's world and didn't want to leave!
