This is one of those books where the audiobook reader was just TERRIBLE. She had a whiny voice which got even worse when she tried to project the different characters. I finally gave up and got the paperback to speed read through the last several chapters (2 CDs). Even when I was listening and so annoyed with the reader, the content itself was good enough to keep going until I could get back to the library.

This is the second series I have read from this author.
This series has started out nicely. I liked the main character - she has hidden untapped strength, but things she is just "normal". The author does a good job of showing how she is growing and coming into herself.
At least in this first book, we are given mostly an overview of the world and its workings without going into great detail about it. It is mostly from the viewpoint of the teenager so it appears to be mostly superficial, but there ...more

Another fantastic work of young adult fiction. I'm loving this series. Thought-provoking, light enough to take the edge off any sci-fi hesitation I had. Tally Youngblood is inspiring.
