This was such a beautiful book. It broke my heart and mended it at the same time. This is technically a graphic novel, although I think it's in the outer reaches of the definition. The book follows the corner of a room of a house throughout the millennia. The spirit of this book reminded me of Asterios Polyp, the art of Leanne Shapton and Maira Kalman, and the muted colors and quiet feel of Goodnight Moon. Think about the spot where you are sitting or standing right now. Who or what was here last week? Last year? 100 years ago? What will be here 100 years from now? This thought-provoking graphic novel layers years of natural and human changes from the past and into the somewhat distant future over one spot – the corner of living room – and allows us to witness dialogue, arguments, growing families, natural disasters and historical context.

Beautiful and evocative. Much more of an art book than a "graphic novel."
I took a class once where the instructor called comics "sequential art" and I didn't really understand that at the time, but it's definitely how I'd describe this book -- the illustrations and innovative layouts all work together to evoke resonance and emotion rather than to create narrative per se.
