The CEO at my company loved this book so gave away paperback copies of it to the whole organization. It was an interesting read and does touch upon the idea of teamwork and battling against the odds.
This book was so much more captivating than I expected it to be--I really became immersed in the stories of these nine boys in the boat. Mostly, I was struck by the meditative aspects of rowing and the power of working together as a team as well as the impressive resourcefulness of these boys, working hard in the 1930s. Absolutely wonderful story about rowing and the Berlin Olympics. Quintessential American success story....rags to glory.
Great story but I didn't really connect with the writing style. I did appreciate the huge number of photos.
