Okay, no lie, this book was AMAZING. And the most amazing thing about it? Is that I hated it, and almost gave up on it, until finally I stopped hating it, and ultimately I could hardly stand to set it down, and when I finished it I was sad, because it was over. I FINALLY FINISHED IT!
This book took me 8 months to read, possibly because it's only the second book that's ever given me nightmares. There were times I had to put it down for days to dull the memory of its graphic violence. It's also because I started the book fairly unfamiliar with Jamaican slang; if you're unwilling to do some research, this book might be a struggle. But it's worth the struggle and the nightmares, because it's all those words people use to describe it - "sweeping," "epic." T ...more
