In truth, 2 1/2 stars. I genuinely struggle with trying to understand how this won the Pulitzer Prize. Was it an entire chapter in power point slides that blew them away? It's a series of loosely connected vignettes, and while they aren't poorly written, there's nothing especially remarkable about them. I also grow tired of this trend of having each chapter jump back-and-forth in time, with no indication of who it's about and why I should care. The whole book felt very surface level. I wasn't in

A beautiful, fluid, and compelling tapestry of a novel, with such expert writing and storytelling that I was moved to care deeply about people and a world I otherwise would have found entirely disinteresting. Mysterious, magical, human, and true. I loved it.

I found this book kept me interested the whole time I was reading, even if I couldn't piece together the storylines. I'd definitely like to give this another read to see if the storyline is any easier to follow a second time around. The book is written from multiple points of view and if I'm correct, spans over many years. I wish Jennifer Egan had added something, ANYthing, to the pages where the point of view changes.. title the chapters to reflect whichever character the story is now being tol
