At first, I was very interested and invested myself in the story of Lotto and Mathilde. Lotto's crazy childhood and family is interesting enough to make me stay focused. Interesting way to approach the portrayal of a marriage - painting a picture primarily from one character's point of view and then switching to the other's, filling the gaps and rewriting the narrative with a different set of information.
