What Members Thought

Highly entertaining, atmospheric, and ridiculous. Can't wait for the movie in August.

Perfectly fluffy and distracting escapism that we need in these trying times.

This book is exactly perfect for what it is: an addictive, campy, can’t-put-it-down read. I kept hearing about this book, but I finally decided to give it a try when someone told me she stayed awake on a transatlantic flight reading the whole thing, cover to cover.
I listened to the audio version, and the narrator was FANTASTIC. She managed to do separate voices and accents for the book’s many characters, and made an already compelling story flow seamlessly. If you’re looking for a summer read, ...more

Lots of phrases in dialects that I had to go to the end of the chapter to find the meaning to. Why? Everything else is in English, just do the phrase in English too. Foods, I understand that should be their original name, but phrases like “oh dear” can be in English.

I would say the book could have easily been edited down to 400 pages from its 526, but on the upside, I really liked so many of the characters, Rachel, Nick, Astrid, Collin,

This is a sweeping family saga of multiple generations of, as the title says, crazy rich Asians. I recommend it if you like to read about complex family relationships and super luxurious lifestyles (jetting off to Macau and then Australia at a moment's notice!) I super recommend this if you have been or plan to go to Singapore. I think my love of Singaporean food which is lovingly described here upped my rating by at least a half star. No matter what, though, this is a fun read.
