Sort of a riff on Divergent, Harry Potter, and Hunger Games. Engaging, but probably part of my rounding up from 3.5 to 4 is that it feels (to me) so connected to what's happening in Palestine - the way violent resistance is used as an excuse to escalate violent oppression.

I was really on the fence about this one and about continuing the series until the twist toward the end. Maybe I should have seen it coming, but I didn't, and that saved the book for me. I'm not sure exactly how the next book will go, but I will read it when it comes out. I listened to this one, and while the narrator did a good job, it did lag in the middle and I almost gave up. Next time I'll read it.

The book was fine but it started to blend into all the other fantasy/dystopian/love triangle books with a heroine who doesn't know her own power and overlooks the obvious.
