Meh. It was not good enough for me to overlook the fact that every character and plot element were things I have read before and in better books. Also, normally I don't take too much issue with "that's not believable." I mean it's young adult fantasy, for crying out loud. But this one had too much that I just couldn't accept. I thought the premise of this was interesting, though Mare wasn't my favorite character. I didn't really understand why her family is so down on her in the beginning, especially if her stealing is helping them stay afloat (which it obviously was). The setting confused me a bit too, I couldn't tell if it was completely made up or if it is meant to be the earth at some point in the future (there is a subway running on a forgotten set of tracks at one point). Reminded me some of Red Rising, but had some differences. I very much enjoyed it.
I must be as naive as Mare...totally missed the plot twist.
