Aaargh. Four stars to the first two-thirds of this book, negative 10 to the last third. I loved Plum's story as an opener, but the plot about the guerilla Jennifer movement was vastly more interesting, and the fact that we had to stick with Plum throughout the end was ridiculously frustrating. Such a letdown!

I don't know about this book. At times it had Crying of Lot 49-esque paranoia and absurd mystery, but I'm not sure it ever came together for me. Good themes, good ideas, stimulating in some ways - but, for me, it didn't sum to a good book in the end.

This book was not at all what I thought it was going to be, in a (mostly) good way. I liked the idea of taking a "diet" book and turning it into an updated feminist manifesto, but the transition was jarring and perhaps not all that believable. But I enjoyed the author's point of view (especially given today's political choices) and her writing. I don't want to give too much away, because I think you should read this book without knowing too much but go into it with an open mind and a large dose
