Bingo - a banned book. I think I last read this in 2001 or 2002 (for our bookclub's annual "classic" re-read), but it didn't leave a lasting impression on me then and I cannot imagine why. The setting is close to where my dad grew up. We still have family there but I haven't visited since the 1990's... on this reading I can see Maycomb as it must've been 80 years ago and it makes me sad, but hopeful. And then sad again because much of what existed in 1935 still exists... beyond the deep South. T

Read in high school, reread in 2003 and reading again in June 2015 before the new Harper Lee comes out in July 2015.
Favorite of all time!
Just reread this, and it is really great as an adult. I thought it was good, but it is way better than as a teen.
Certainly one of the great American novels, quite possibly my favorite.
