I'm not going to lie - I just started crying on Bart for no real reason last night while reading the last few chapters of this - and it wasn't just because of the really sad things that happen towards the end of an otherwise jolly romp about adolescence and coming of age in a provincial Canadian town. One of my favorite series from when I was younger. I still remember exactly where they were in the library... I hope my daughter loves this book like I did when she gets a bit older.

This is my all-time favorite book. I love Anne's sassy, romantic and poetic disposition and her determination to call her fire-red hair "auburn." She gets herself into scrapes, time and time again, much to my delight, yet they are a reflection of true living child!

When I was in middle school, I even gave my best friend and I the code names of "Anne" (me, of course!) and "Diana." Of course, it was "Anne with an E." This is how we addressed our notes in class to one another!
