At best, it's Ready Player Two... basically his first novel gussied up in new window dressing.
At worst, it's The Last Starfighter crossbred with Hackers, and not in the fun way. Derivative, hokey, awkwardly written fluff that substitutes movie, TV, and game quotes for actual plot development (I have a theory that his next novel will be nothing but quotes, even the exposition). The world can only be saved by gamers (who have NOT been wasting their time after all, Mom) fueled by government supplie ...more

I like the way Cline writes so I enjoyed Armada. I did not enjoy this as much as I did Ready Player One, but this one was good. I would give it 3.5 starts, overall. I did like all of the characters, but it was a tiny bit slow in getting started. If you liked Ready Player One, you will probably enjoy this one as well.

Really, 3.5. I liked this, but not as much as Ready Player One, and there were some painfully slow parts in it, which I didn't find in Ready Player One, either.
