I'm just gonna go with my gut on this one and rate it five stars, despite the fact that I threw the book across the room when I was finished, then reconsidered and read the ending again and again, searching for more. My strong reaction after compulsively devouring the last 400 pages of this book in as short a time as possible (and actually waking up at 8am on the day I don't have to go to work just to finish it) means it deserves the praise. It deserves five stars just for the hallucinatory scen

I started off really liking this book - it started off as a 4 star book but by the end I think it only deserves 2 stars.
This book tries to do too much and it's not as well written as her first book. It's as if she took every stereotype, plot twist, hardboiled dialogue and characters from various crime novels and mixed in some of Gillian Flynn's twistedness.
Overall, not worth the 587 pages. ...more
