This has been one of the most fun books I've read in a long time. Fun in the sense that I really enjoyed myself as I was reading.

I enjoyed the way the book took advantage of different media, such as websites and magazine articles, to advance the plot and supply background exposition. After like a million page of me going "why are you reminding me about this plot point?" and "why are you not done yet?", I actually liked the ending a lot. But this was written in such a heavy handed way with lots of emphasis italics that it felt dumbed down and condescending to the audience. The magic bits were cool. The thriller bits were less so. I couldn't see the extras because I was reading on a regular old Kindle.

I remember really enjoying Special Topics in Calamity Physics so here's hopi

I loved this at first -- it is a very creepy page turning that kind of messes with your mind. I got a little impatient with it as it went on -- maybe it seemed a little too aware of its own cleverness? But a well done unique book.
