I really liked the idea of this book. I can describe this book to others in a way that will make them want to read it. The concept of a future that stinks, a future in which hiding in an online reality is preferable to living in the real world....doesn't seem that far off. (As if Second Life had really taken off, and taken over.) Getting behind a character who is smart and bullied, where the nerds have a real chance of winning over evil? Absolutely.

LOVED the 80s references (of which there were a ton) and as an arcade junkie from the mid-eighties I actually really enjoyed the gaming aspect of the book. The amount of time it took me to read it is deceptive as it was taken from me by members of the family to "borrow" and read/return. Very fast-paced.

This is one of the best books I've read (or listened to) in a while. It was a lot more fun than I anticipated, and Will Wheaton's reading of it was outstanding. I hope Spielberg does the movie justice. It would be really easy to screw it up, as good as it was.
