I checked this one out now just because it was right there on the shelf at the library, but I'm starting to think I should read the Hainish books in order, even though they aren't technically a series. I just suspect I would enjoy them better that way.

This is a book I will come back to. It's not action-packed, but it is thoughtful, insightful, and an original and imaginative look at societies can function, or not function. I also loved the character of Shevak. I will definitely be looking for more of Le Guin's work, particularly Left Hand of Darkness. ...more
