Did you know this is a 700+ page book? I finally finished it. I'm glad that I did--the ending was well crafted and a good wrap up. But I wasn't happy with several hundred pages in the middle. I don't like the rambling on and on descriptions of the detailed loves and hobbies of every single character. I didn't love the first person narrator who sometimes becomes omnipresent and knows the intimate details of his brothers' letters, diaries and thoughts. I have been told I won't like The Brothers Ka

This book was really really good. It was complex, raw, and real. I think everyone can see someone/themselves they recognize in the book. Reminiscent of Steinbeck in style and character development. Duncan is able to tell several persons' interwoven and separate stories effectively and without any confusion.
