This was essentially one (maybe three) really good blog posts expanded into book format. I did take a few new ideas away from this short - and very practical, hands-on - book, but it seemed that a lot of the content was repetitive. I also found that a few sections felt out of order, as the explanation around thanking your possessions for the work they have done for you is explained near the end, but it's a quirky thing that she brings up throughout the book earlier without explanation.

For all its quirks (and oh, talking to your home every day until it starts to show you where it wants you to store things is just one example of the harmless lunacy on order here), this book is pretty awesome. I did smirk quite a bit through the audiobook, but on my first free day after finishing it I attacked my clothes and KonMari'ed the crap out of them. Three garbage bags and many cleared shelves later and I feel fantastic about it. Cannot wait to do the rest of the apartment.

I listened to this audio book and more than once the author made me laugh out loud. I think she makes a lot of really good points. I love that she challenges people to really cherish the things you keep in your house - all too often we just end up with so much stuff we don't cherish a thing. She empowered me to purge - and to stop buying things just because it's on sale and I know I'll use it "one day."

My boyfriend heard good things about this book, so decided to purchase a copy for himself. I picked it up and read it over the course of a few days. This is PERFECT for me because I keep downsizing apartments, but the thought of going through my stuff is so overwhelming. Marie Kondo's philosophy is that you need to go through all of your items of a specific category first and get rid of everything that doesn't bring you joy.
