Absolutely gorgeous audiobook recording of Stardust read by Neil Gaiman - if that guy ever runs out of ideas for new books, etc. he could just have a career as a book reader.
Also, while I liked the addition of Captain Shakespeare in the movie, I would have preferred to trade the screen time for the entire set-up of the book with the every-nine-years market, etc. And the inclusion of the "little hairy man", too. ...more

I don't know why anyone would ever prefer a movie version to a book version of a story. This was SOOOO much better than the movie, and I loved the movie.
This was a proper faerie tale. A boy who wasn't who he thought he was, a wayward journey to find a fallen star for the heart of a girl who doesn't deserve it, True Love, and and ending that wasn't happy, but bittersweet.

3.5 stars, rounded up because I love Neil Gaiman so much. I really liked it, right up until the ending when it was pretty clear that the changes they made for the movie were incredibly necessary and much more successful. The book just sort of petered out. There was a great narrative, but not really any arc to it.

More books for adults should have pictures in them. Wonderful story, beautiful images.
