Erdrich is one of those authors of whom I've heard, but the synopses of her books have never spoken to me. This one didn't either, but I'm glad our book club chose it. I know very little about modern day life on Native American reservations, and what I have seen/heard/read is always so very depressing, so I enjoyed that this was not the focus of this book (other than the over-riding issues of tribal law). I kept hearing that The Round House by Louis Erdrich was an amazing book; I nominated it to be read by book club many times. When I heard that Erdrich won the National Book Award, I decided to read it on my own. My takeaway is that this book should be on the must-read list for humanity.
