This really was mesmerizing. Each time I had to put it down for sleep, work, whatever, I couldn't wait to pick it up again, even though I could easily guess what the plot was. The writing was terrific. I LOVE unreliable narrators, so that was part of my love for this book; I love the slow reveal and the buildup of suspense that goes with an unreliable-narrator-type plot and I love picking out the clues from the writing and/or the dialogue and I love the hashing-out of what *really* happened afte ...more

This was well written and interesting. I really felt for the main character, Ruth. And the whole idea of what happens to her was just heartbreaking. However, this wasn't a book that felt compelling to me. Maybe b/c my life experiences haven't yet included something like home care or an elderly person who needs help, but I just found myself not really wanting to pick it up.
