What Members Thought
This book primarily takes place during the Emergency period in India (1975-1977). The four characters experience much suffering and occasional joys as they learn to rely on each other for survival. This is a long book, so you have to be willing to devote yourself to 600 fairly unhappy pages. If you can handle that, then its worth it!
Good things: well-developed characters that you really care about, epic tale

This book is going to stay with me for a very long time. I cared SO MUCH about the characters, I even had dreams about them. They live in my mind as breathing realities after this reading experience. I was so sad to see them going through so much in these pages. The book made me appreciate my easy life so much.
Tremendous and very sad.
Seems cliche to wish for a happier ending, but I do.
