It is amazing that Murakami is able to pack so many strange and poignant ideas about knowledge, reading, and bravery into such a short story. This would be a great entry point to Murakami as many as his tried and true techniques are on display in a powerful abbreviated form.

I'm going to refrain from giving this a star rating, because this just wasn't for me. I love books about libraries, and magical realism, but this just wasn't long enough for me to feel satisfied with any part of this story. I love the design because Chip Kidd rules.
