What Members Thought
Pulitzer Prize books have a history of being disappointments, for me, because of the type of reader I am. Literary fiction is so rich with theme and meaning, that being the lazy reader that I am, I easily zone out for something more easily entertaining. This book did not suffer from this one bit. It is definitely a literary fiction book that will appeal to genre fiction readers. I loved the dark humor that emphasizes the unbelievable culture of the DPRK.
This book is not at all what I had expected or anticipated. But I enjoyed it in its quirkiness, which only fueled my current obsession with North Korea even more.
