After being disappointed by the most recent Anne Tyler novel that I read (Noah's Compass) this is a return to form. Her themes are much the same - family life in Baltimore - and the characters (a slightly flighty wife, the grounded mildly grouchy husband) repeat. This is a warm novel about connection.
