Young adult? I don't think so. New adult, maybe, but these "kids" are pushing 30, I think and I'm not sure what "new adult" actually means, but I'm seeing it everywhere, so I figured I would throw it in, to prove I can hang with the cool kids.

This book is utterly charming.
I've never really read chick lit before. When I was looking for a light read in college I read Persuading Annie at a friend's suggestion. It's based on Persuasion, which is my favorite Jane Austen book, so I could barely stomach it. Too girly, too silly, too stupid, too easy.
Something about Attachments grabbed me right away. I'm not sure if it is the setting (the midwest) or the time period (1999-2000 ThE nEw MiLlEnNiUm) or the characters (normal people!), but I r ...more

Although Attachments pokes fun at other romantic comedies, it doesn't really stand apart or rise above them in any way. I wonder if the book would have been more meaningful if Lincoln had been less attractive?Lincoln and Beth are both likable and attractive, and the idea of falling in love with a stranger by way of reading her emails is intriguing... but it felt a little too contrived.
