This book was a pleasure to read. On a side note, I feel as though I should have read this book instead of Rebecca Walker's Baby Love. One of the characters in the book truly did have ambivalence/fear of being pregnant/giving birth, and it was more enjoyable and enlightening to watch this story unfold than it was to read page after page of Rebecca Walker yammering on and on about how we all need to give birth.

Is it historical if it's set in 1999? Not technically, but it's rooted in a certain point of time, so we'll shelve it there.
Fairy sweet tale of an awkward man who gets a job in IT reading flagged emails for a cautious newspaper and gets wrapped up reading the (against the rules and so flagged) personal emails of two staffers, Beth and Jennifer, and finds himself in love with Beth. This is not as good as Eleanor & Park. It really isn't the best. But that didn't stop me from staying up til midnight on a school night to read it. I enjoyed rooting for the IT guy, who reminded me of my best friends in college. I liked that the defining characteristic for all of the main characters was that they were nice. And that the other characters, who were perhaps not nice, were also human. Some were stereotypical, but still humanly flawed.

I heart this book for several reasons:
1) I love the e-mail exchanges between friends. I love books with letter exchanges more..bonus points when they are in handwriting instead of type, but I suppose I can embrace the modern era in which we live.
2) Adorkable--there are many charming moments that embrace smart things that are a bit nerdy
3) I feel like Rainbow Rowell is like the cousin to John Green and I am so glad she is writing books!
