I cannot believe I actually finished this 25 hour book. I kept waiting for it to have a point. It never did. I desperately wanted it to. I decided to stick with it out of pure stubbornness. I would not recommend it to anyone.
"Middlesex" is one of my favorite books that I read in 2004. I love Eugenide's writing. The story of Calliope the hermaphrodite and the history of her Greek family was unlike most of the other tales that I read that year.

Beautifully written. Weird inbreeding situation. Story of Greek-American family through several generations. Also main character is born a girl, but has a rare genetic condition where is actually a man?
People are people. Even hermaphrodites.

I was really interested in the narrator, the plot, and the whole subject of hermaphrodites. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
