I wish that I could give half stars because I liked this book more than 3 stars, but I didn't like it enough for four stars. 3.5 would be just right. I really loved the story about the Vangar family and the mystery plot - it always held my interest and was a good story and I liked the character of Blomkvist - both intriguing and compelling story lines. Genre fiction, but a genre new to me: liberal, Swedish detective novels. I did enjoy it, though it was disturbing. Perhaps I would have been more prepared if it had been published with the Swedish title: Men who Hate Women.

I thought this book was decent. After everything I'd read and heard about it, I was expecting the violence to be more graphic. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it's just about as much as any other thriller. It is, however, much like any other thriller. The plot is very fast-paced, and I thought the characters are interesting.
