Life goes from bad to worse for most of characters in the second volume in the series. It ends with several of the main characters (Jon Snow, pretty much every single living Stark and Tyrion - the only Lannister I wouldn't kill if given the opportunity) in mortal peril.
I like the introduction of a few more solid female characters - including a couple who aren't whores!
I would consider constructing an Asha Greyjoy costume, partially because the Kraken is the coolest of all the house sigils. ...more

Coming from a person who started off with the TV series, following it up with the books was amazing. One of the qualities I appreciate most about these books is GRRM ability to bounce between dark adult themes to the representing the perspectives of a child. The Bran and Arya story lines are my favorite, but I will add that fans of the TV version of Jon Snow really need to read this book. Major important details for his story that aren't included in the show.

Listing this as abandoned cause I was reading it on my Kindle and my Kindle decided to have a FIT. Haven't fixed it yet and haven't read more on this book in a couple months. I'll get back to it eventually.
