What Members Thought

This book was unsettling. I don't mind that, normally, I enjoy unsettling books. But it was unsettling in a very specific creepy way. Quite a few of the stories focused on victimization of women: rape, abduction, human trafficking. With the exception of Alison's short sections in "Victory Lap" and "Puppy" (which isn't about victimization of women), we get no interiority from a woman. No limited third person. I really like this collection of stories overall, some more than others. I think that's why I generally stay away from books of short stories; I especially dislike getting into a story and its characters only to have it end abruptly, and then you have to shift to new characters in a new story right away.
