I read this straight through in a few hours. Very enjoyable. I've read loads of fairy tale retellings and other books grounded in fairy lore and this novel stands in good company with excellent ones, if not the best, because, you know Angela Carter is unique.

This is the story of Tara, who disappears for 20 years and returns to her family home, unaged, on Christmas, with a story of having been abducted by faeries. The story is told from varying perspectives - Tara, her brother Peter, and her old boyfriend Richie. A couple of chapters are her psychiatrist's narrative of his diagnosis, and I found that those interrupted the flow of the story and didn't particularly do much for me.
