This is truly one of funniest books I have ever read (ok,listened to). If you enjoy Monty Python lampooning the British upper class, this is the book for you.
The book claims to have no hero, and contrast the clever but conniving Becky Sharp with sweet but spineless Amelia Sedley. Both have moments of triumph and of downfall as they leave school, marry and try to make their ways in the world.

I really loved this one. None of the characters were perfect and there was so much juicy scandal and angsty heartbreak, with an ending that was satisfying all around. I'm only sorry it took me so long to pick it up.
