This is a gorgeous book; not poetry, not essays, but rather a hybrid of the two that is a meditation on racism and microaggressions. It is lovely and wise and sometimes it hits you right where it hurts.

This short but powerful collection has forced me to reflect on my own thoughts and actions and how they relate to race and racism. I will constantly be thinking now of why I do the things I do in daily life, whether that is choosing a certain seat or addressing a particular individual in a group. We need more works like this to help peel back the thick layers of racism.
