I try to go into reading a book without any preconceived notions and a neutral opinion, even if someone I know has said that they loved or hated a book because everyone has different tastes.
I'm glad I didn't know much about 'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children' when I started reading it, and especially glad that I hadn't read all of the bad reviews. I may have missed out on a really intriguing story.

I would have given this four stars if it wasn't for the ending.(view spoiler) This was, however, one of the best young adult fiction books I've read. I'm not a big fan of reading YA unless it's to teach it. Maybe I'm snobby, but I'm not a YA...

My criticism of this book is that I didn't believe it. I didn't believe in the world, or the particular turn of events, or the storytelling based on the photos. The photos, the author's device the book, feel forced and unnatural.
