I'm a sucker for any post-apocalyptic plots, but this one was just SO SO good. Like couldn't put it down, alternated between the book and the audio book so I never had to stop reading couldn't put it down. Suspenseful and yet well-paced, I loved the characters and can't wait to read the second book.

I don't remember why I felt I had to read this but it took up an awful lot of my life I cant' get back. I guess it was compelling and about 600 pages in I thought it might be a great book but then I think the author got tired of writing and the end just made me mad!

Good old apocalyptic fiction--a cross between The Stand and The Road.
The first half of the book is great. It goes downhill from there. Way too long.
But if you're gonna read a vampire book, read this one instead of Twilight ;) ...more

The book started off amazingly. I could hardly put it down. It got a bit confusing in the middle and by the end I was reading more to finish it than because I wanted to know what happened. That being said, I will probably e reading the sequel because I do want to find out what happens next.

a solid read. well over 700 pages, but it didn't feel that way. i enjoyed how the character development bloomed out; the characters that were important at the beginning gave way to new characters who gave way to new characters, but in a way that did not leave them in the dustbin of the book's history as you would think. glad i read it, and think you should too!

I was riveted but disappointed by the ending. I actually did like the writing. I guess if it's a series I can give it some slack for the extremely frustrating ending. It was just such a letdown, after such meticulous storytelling.

Very engrossing, though too long (and often frustrating). Still kept me guessing and involved to the end. Glad I finally found the time to read this! Another book made for the Kindle...

Uneven. Uneven pacing, mostly, bit uneven character development, too. I fully admit to skimming a bit around pages 600+. And there's a sequel? Hmmmmmm.
