The life of an 11 year old boy can be a very feral existence. After all, it’s the inspiration for Lord of the Flies. Even with this wild streak, it’s still a very impressionable time, a blank canvas, whereas, the right or wrong person with the brush can leave marks lasting a lifetime. It’s this feeling of wild freedom and early exposure to adult situations that drive the plot for the Cat’s Table.

I really expected more out of this, but it seems that my expectations were probably a little higher, especially since my last read of his was The English Patient about 15 years ago and even then I wasn't impressed with the book because I was so lost as to what was going on that I didn't really enjoy the way that I probably should have and intended and now that I understand how he wrote the book, I probably would enjoy it more now, but this review isn't about ...more
